U.S. Diagnosis and Therapy (Services) locations...
If you are seeking a diagnosis, once you find your location, look for a facility that provides "Evaluation
or Diagnostic Interviews." There may be a waiting list for an appointment to have your child evaluated. A team of specialists
may be involved in the diagnosis. The team may include a neurologist, psychiatrist, developmental pediatrician, psychologist,
audiologist, speech therapist, occupational therapist, and other professionals. Because there is no medical test or biomarker
for Autism, diagnosis is based on observation of the child's behavior, parent's reporting, comments, educational and
psychological testing. Usually the team members evaluate the child, assessing his or her weakness and strengths, and then
explain the test results to parents.
